I honestly think people forget that the church and state are supposed to be separate. Give me one non-religious reason against same sex marriage. One non-religious reason against stem cell research. One non-religious reason against safe abortions. Go ahead.

I’ve been saying this for YEARS.

I mean if you view an embryo/fetus as life and consider it murder you dont really have to be religious to think its wrong. The other ones are valid doe

xtdubzx I wholly agree that the first few are religious beliefs, whereas the issue concerning abortion is not simply a religious belief. Scientifically speaking, new *life* begins at “conception.” Therefore, one can conclude by proper reason and rationality that this is not a mere religious issue and/or opinion. Posts like these are incredibly frustrating with their conveniently *redefined* diction (e.g., “safe,” by its historical definition, cannot apply here when one considers that we are dealing with two separate nervous systems, one rapidly growing). Follow the logic of Singer: abortion ought to lead to infanticide by the classical arguments for abortion.

"Using marijuana can certainly contribute to or worsen depression. Low motivation, fatigue, and withdrawal from positive activities are central features of depression and marijuana can worsen each of those problems. Some people do say that marijuana dulls anxiety or negative feelings. But it also dulls energy and motivation. And we know that activation and engagement are key parts of recovery from depression.

Marijuana can be even more troublesome for people—especially younger people—who live with bipolar disorder. In addition to worsening depression, marijuana can increase the likelihood of experiencing symptoms of psychosis—like hallucinations or paranoid ideas. In younger people who are at higher risk for bipolar disorder or schizophrenia, using marijuana increases the chances of developing a severe or disabling mental illness."

"Have you ever tried keeping quiet all day long - the moment you wake till you go to sleep. And better yet just sleep all day long and forget the day. Get up the next day you feel great. People do too much. They say too much."

Summing up the attitude I'm seeing

goebel:

Everyone just assumes that Brown had his hands up in the air and was surrendering when shot despite witness claims being mixed. They see the autopsy report as undeniable evidence that Brown was surrendering; the possibility that he was charging Wilson is not considered.

These are people who have…

"If we have just partaken of a philosopher’s wisdom, we go through the streets feeling as if we had been transformed and had become great men; for we encounter only people who do not know this wisdom, and thus we have to deliver a new, unheard-of judgement about everything; because we have acknowledged a book of laws, we also think we now have to act like judges."

"Near to the sorrow of the world, and often upon its volcanic earth, man has laid out his little gardens of happiness; whether he approaches life as one who wants only knowledge from existence, or as one who yields and resigns himself, or as one who rejoices in a difficulty overcome — everywhere he will find some happiness sprouting up next to the trouble. The more volcanic the earth, the greater the happiness will be — but it would be ludicrous to say that this happiness justified suffering per se."

"I am fearfully unstable. I pass from hot to cold in an instant, without any reason […] And yet your caring for me as you do almost overwhelms me. It is so real, and so strange. Why should you? What am I really except a pleasant attractive creature?"
